The person whose hands are on the code

I am Maksym Burkhan. I started in SEO in 2012, moved into writing code the year after, and have been building and running commercial web systems ever since. makseong is my studio: the person who scopes your work is the person who writes it and answers your email.

Some projects run several domains, one per market, which is why the two numbers differ.
From search to code
The first year was technical SEO: structure, speed, indexing. It turned out that every recommendation I wrote needed someone to implement it, so I learned to. Fourteen years later I still read a build the way a crawler does, which is why performance and structure are not a separate line item here.
Four platforms, not one
WordPress and WooCommerce first, then Shopify, then Magento, with PHP and Laravel behind them and Node.js and Next.js alongside. Working across platforms means the recommendation is which one fits, not which one I happen to sell.
Shipped, not demoed
Everything on the work page is a live domain, checked before publishing, not a case study written from memory. Three Shopify apps built end to end, one published in the App Store, plus an astrology platform whose calculation API runs in production with SDKs in five languages.
How I work
Written scope before code. A fixed price where the scope is fixed, a range with the parts broken out where it is not. You get the repository, the deploy path and the reasoning, not a black box you have to pay to reopen.
What I run myself
The studio's own products run on infrastructure I administer: Linux, nginx, PM2, MySQL, Cloudflare, backups. Building products that have to stay up is why the advice about keeping yours up is not theoretical.
What I do not claim
No guaranteed rankings, approvals or regulatory compliance. Where the answer belongs to Google, Shopify, Meta or a regulator, my job is to fix the technical cause and make the strongest case; the decision stays with them.
How the years went
Told through what was built. Employers are not named here on purpose; ask and I will walk you through any period.
2012–2013
Technical SEO
Structure, speed and indexing for commercial sites. The year that taught me to read a build the way a crawler does.
2013–2016
Web development
From recommendations to implementation: PHP and MySQL on the back, HTML, CSS and JavaScript on the front, CMS work and server administration.
2016–2020
Full-stack on WordPress
Sites built from scratch and inherited ones kept alive: custom themes, ACF layouts, multilingual setups, forms and admin panels, performance and security.
2020–now
E-commerce across four platforms
Shopify, WooCommerce and Magento next to WordPress, for buyers in Germany, Poland, Ukraine, Israel, the United States, the Nordics and Mexico. Migrations, launches, integrations and the repairs in between.
2026–now
Own products
An astrology platform with a production calculation API and SDKs in three languages, and three Shopify apps built end to end, one of them published in the App Store.
Selected work
ELEO
Hand-forged metal pavilions, gazebos and fencing sold across six European markets from one shared stack on WordPress and Shopify.
AstroWay
Own product: an astrology platform with a public site, a customer app and a calculation API serving over 750 endpoints, with SDKs published in five languages.
TestPro
QA engineering bootcamp with a full course catalogue, admissions funnel and student-facing content, built on WordPress for the US market.
UNDRGOODS
Direct-to-consumer underwear brand on Shopify, built around a fit-led product page and a catalogue that leans on comparison rather than volume.
Levit Books
Ukrainian publishing house selling its own catalogue on Shopify, with the storefront and the ordering flow adapted to a local market.
MuniParts
Heavy-duty truck and municipal equipment parts on Shopify, a catalogue where fitment data matters more than merchandising.
Suplint
Sports nutrition store for the Mexican market on WooCommerce, with local payment and shipping options wired into the checkout.
Stack
Grouped by what it is for, not by how long ago I learned it. Everything here has shipped to production more than once.
